Exhibition Reflection

Overall for ehibition I think that it went really good for me and my partners yesterday. For my graphic novel a lot of people liked it adn i think we did good. For the pinhole camera lab not a lot of people came up to us because a lot of people were starting to leave so my partner an di didnt get much of an audience.My group and I think that we did do good we didnt get much work done for our graphic nevel because we would start working and then a visitor would come and we would start explaining but i think that we did good. I think that my partner and my weeknesses were that once we finished explaining to someone our project we would get of task and start talking or we would just siting down looking at people walking by. Other than me adn my partner getting of task we did good.

Character Posting

After the exercise that we did today with our character bio’s I found out some new things about our two main characters. My partner and I discovered that Ariel, one of our main characters is a Puerto Rican maid in New York and she works in the house were she later than falls in love with the son of the house were she works in and we found out that we have no conflict in our story between these two characters, Ariel and Fredrick. Something that we also learned about one of our characters was that when we had to do the posing of our character and the acting of our characters, my partner who was playing his role didn’t know how to act and how to pose like him because in his bio we didn’t go to specific on him so there for we both didn’t know what to do with that character.
Some things that me and my partner are going to put into the bio’s of our characters are that we are going to change Ariel from being this sweet girl that lets her self get thrown around and treated badly and not standing up for her self to this person that is aggressive and stands for what she believes in. We are also are going to change a few things about Fredrick on his personality so that when we do something like the exercise we had today next time we wont think about it for so long on who he is and how he act’s and thinks. In our story synopsis we are also going to change a few things around so that we can have a conflict that happens which gets the story started. My partner and I were thinking on having Ariel’s father get an illness which makes her family and her to go back to Puerto Rico since in those days people that came through Ellis Island and had an illness or got one they were sent back to where they came from.

story synopsis and character bio
Ellis Island is filled with many new people coming to live in the beautiful America. Ariel, being one of them first steps off the boat that has just landed and walks into a huge crowd. This is not exactly the crowd you want to be stuck in. many people shouting, “hurry up!” and you just can’t imagine what they smell like. Ariel, her father and her younger sister are finally pulled away from the crowd and in line for examination. On the other side of town this young man is definitely not an immigrant. Freddy, flirting with the ladies and having drinks with friends is how his day unfolds.Ariel and Freddy are two opposite people living in totally different worlds. In fact, every time Ariel sees him it was as like she was a ghost. In order to supply the needs of the household she gets a job working as a maid in Freddy’s house. The first time Ariel laid eyes on Freddy she thought he was very handsome but his attitude was horrible. Always bringing another girl into his room and constantly fighting with his parents about anything. For some reason Ariel still can’t seem to resist him but Freddy can totally block her from his eyes. Her heart starts beating every time he passes by her in the hall. She’s like a young girl who’s totally in love with the boy at the playground. After a month or two Ariel tries to ignore him when she’s cleaning the den and he’s there watching tv.For the first time Freddy stares at Ariel; she is cleaning his room when Freddy walks in and tells her to get out. Her remark changes Freddy’s attitude completely but at the same time he is still mad.While Ariel is cleaning a bathroom mirror Freddy passes by and talks to her about what she said yesterday. Everyday Freddy keeps thinking about what Ariel said. He was in shock in how someone can just talk to him like that. Freddy is always treated as the upper-classman; no one ever talks back to him. Also, he also wondered why Ariel didn’t come up to him as every other girl. Every girl adores him. This time Ariel thought Freddy wasn’t the kind of guy for him. They would never mix. Freddy realized something different about her but he couldn’t figure it out. Through a series of different conversations in a way Ariel began changing his actions just by what she was saying. These conversations grew to respect and the respect eventually grew in love. This was no ordinary love Freddy was experiencing. It was genuine. As their relationship grew they each taught each other certain things in life like money is not everything and the gift of family and friends.As soon as Freddy and Ariel started talking his parents didn’t like it one bit. They always thought he would marry one of those girls he brought home but would always come to live back with his parents if he needed to. Actually, his father hired Ariel because he thought she wouldn’t attract Freddy but in fact she did. Once she and Freddy started talking about marriage his parents had to intervene. Eventually Freddy didn’t agree with what his parents thought about Ariel and he knew that he loved her. She was very different from all of the other girls he went out with. Freddy left the house and started his new life with Ariel. Love is something you can’t explain and for these two people love asks them to go beyond their limits.

Character Bio:

Ariel: Ariel Veguilla is our character from San Juan, Puerto Rico,Ariel Veguilla is 19 years old she was borne in December 16, 1874.Her astrology sign is Sagittarius. She is a very friendly person but can be serious when she needs to. She is also funny and calmed lady like girl who helps her family out. Her dad is an up coming factory worker and her mom owned her restaurant in Puerto Rico but died in Puerto Rico after having Ariel’s younger sister. Ariel was affected after her mother’s death and decided to take over her mother’s restaurant. During her free time between school and work she worked on her talent which was dancing. She new how to dance from ballet to salsa she learned how to dance from watching her mother dance. Ariel was a beautiful young girl with beautiful brown skin that glowed under the sun. She had dark brown skin with beautiful figured big lips and gorgeous big brown eyes. In her face features she looked vulnerable but in the inside she was solid as a rock. The only time she would be vulnerable would be when she thought about her mother and when she thought of all she had left in San Juan. Ariel is a single girl who falls in love with her master’s son. Ariel is an up coming servant at the house were she falls in love with for the first time. Before Ariel and her family came to New York she had finished high school and two semesters of college till she came to the United States. Her goal when she moved to the United States is to go to school and get a decent job and help her family. ·

Felix: Felix Veguilla is another character from San Juan, Puerto Rico.Felix Veguilla is 40 years old he was borne in July 6, 1853. His sign is cancer. Felix is one of those guys that make’s you feel good when your down he is laid back and romantic but also wiled. His parents use to be farmers and he use to help them in a ranch that they worked and lived in. His chilled hood influences were his favorite salsa singer because like them his talent was singing. Felix is about 5’9 with dark brown skin with big legs and big black eye with a face that looks mean and a goat beard with bushy eye brows. Felix is a very religious person who helps out around his church fixing things and never misses church. Felix always finds time for his family and friends.

Yelena: Yelena Veguilla is one of our characters that come from San Juan Puerto Rico.

Yelena Veguilla is 15 years old she was borne in Aril 16, 1877. Her sign is Aries. Yelena is a person that is always happy but because of her mothers death she feels a guilt on her and can get mad pretty easy. Her dad is an up coming factory worker and her mom owned her restaurant in Puerto Rico but died in Puerto Rico after having her she died and now her and her sister take care of there mothers restaurant. Yelena like her sister loves to dance and sing. Yelena is a short girl about 5’0 with long wavy hair and big and beautiful brown eyes with tan skin that glows under the sun with beautiful figured lips like her sister and a beauty mark on the left side of her face. Like her father she loves to go to church and see all her friends and talk to all the people who new her mother and learn about her. Yelena leaves a boy friend behind when she goes to New York but later finds another crush.·

Frederick Jr.: Frederick Livingston Jr. is one of our characters from Britain.Fredrick Jr. is 21 years old he was borne in June 21, 1872. He is a Sagittarius. He is very cocky and everyday of the week has a new girl in his arm. He is a very selfish person. His parents both came from a rich family in Britain that came to the United States before Ellis Island. He was influenced by his father who was almost like him. Fredrick had no talent except getting girls. Fredrick was about 6’1 with beautiful blue eyes with peachy white skin with dirty blonde hair and a small pointy nose with small lips and straight teeth. His face structure was strong. Fredrick was always taken but he never thought of him self being taken more like single. Fredrick was the only child since his mother and father divorced when he was 10 years old. ·

Frederick: Fredrick Livingston is one of our characters from Britain.Fredrick is 45 years old he was borne in January 5, 1808. His sign is Capricorn. Fredrick is a very serious person who thinks he is very important and always cares what people say and think. His parents both came from a rich family who was well known. Fredrick is a very political person who is always up to date on everything that happens. Fredrick is always after young women trying to find a step mother for Fredrick Jr. but always ends up braking up with them. Fredrick has two brothers and sisters. Fredrick is about 6’2 almost as tall as his son with blonde hair and green eyes with white pale skin and very skinny with small lips a small little nose.

Persepolis book Reflection

In the book of Persepolis we read about a girl named Marji who lived in Iran and experienced the Iranian revolution that started in 1979 and ended in 1988. Through the book of Persepolis she talked about all the laws that were enforced on them like how women always had to wear veils. This law was established in 1980 right after the revolution started. She also talks about when the shah left which was in 1974. She also talked about how at her school they would put her and her class meats and they would martyr there breaths for all the dead people. She also talked about how the boys and girls had to be separated from each other at school this also started after the war started in 1980.In the book she talked about how they had to clandestine from there neighbors because of all the entertainment that was banned in there country if a neighbor saw them they would denounce them and they would probably die since they had party’s all the time.
Through this book Marji had a lot of experiences that really opened her mind about everything she believed in. In one chapter that was called The Letter she said how she was ashamed to get dropped of at school in her fathers Cadillac and I think that being decadent wasn’t something part of her. Marji wasn’t a Proletariat person because she didn’t let her dads nice car get to her head and be superficial. Marji was more like her mom; secular because her family didn’t believe everything that there country had as laws like women having to wear a veil or not to be able to have any type of entertainment in there homes. Something else that shaped her was that every time they heard a siren all of her family and her would go down to there basement were all there reservoir for a few days was at just in case they were really in danger.
I think that when Marji moved to Vienna her life took a total change on her. I think that once she got there she was sad for a while but then she got over it. I also think that that because of what was happening in her country her parents died. I also think that her mom died because she was depressed because Marji had to leave the country in order to be safe and I think that her father was the only one that cached up with her in Vienna .He was the one who took care of her.

Vocab Quiz.

For the article that i read was about how young men and women have been voting in barack O bama. I htink that a lot of young men nd women vote for him because he is a liberal person. I think that they also vote on him because he is not conservative like other delagates that have run for president he has something that attracks young men and women to listen to what he has to say. I also think that more young men and women are voting on barack obama becasue he is not evangelical like other candidates. Young people also vote for him because he reaches out to all the young men and women to be constituent so that there voice can be heard. Barack obama is trying to have all the voters to get out there and vote adn be involved on what is happening today and not take there suffrage away from them.

Who's rocking the youth?

On the video that i saw it talked about young voters who dont vote and how half of the young voters dont even make it two steps into voteing. In this video it also talks about how the presidential candidates have to turn on myspace and youtube and tv channels like MTV to count on there vote. On the video it also talks about how yooung people just started to vote because of the terrorist attack that happen on sep.11. In an Iowa presidential contest only 76 percent of the young voters only register to vote and 93 percent were older men and women.

Presidential mini project

For the mini project that we did in Ms. Golub’s class I picked Senator John McCain. The issue that I picked on that McCain was border security. What I did was that I did my research on what were his thoughts on boarder security and what were going to be his actions if he were to be elected for president. Some of his thoughts were to tighten security for the entry of cargo. He would also improve the penalty for people that hire illegal immigrants.
When I research all of my notes it was easy in the beginning because I already new what web site I was going to go to find all of this information. The only problem was that I only stuck to one web site that helped me but not a lot so if I would have gone to other web sites I think that I would have had better notes.
When I was presenting them up in the class when we were doing the presidential pole I was not confident about what I was going to say but then when I got up there I was a little more confident about what I was going to say if I was asked any questions. I think that I did good I don’t think that I did bad but I also didn’t do good so I feel like I was in the middle.
